About Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park
SRTIP is Sharjah's technology and research park, created for companies working in advanced technology, renewable energy, digital transformation, agri-tech and industrial innovation. It is not a general-purpose free zone.
The zone offers laboratory and prototyping facilities, proximity to the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah, and access to research partnerships that other free zones cannot provide.
If your business genuinely involves R&D or deep technology, SRTIP offers real advantages beyond the licence. If it does not, a general free zone will be simpler and cheaper.

What you need to provide
Everything on this list, for each shareholder and director.
- Passport copy for every shareholder and director (minimum 6 months validity)
- Passport-size photograph against a white background
- Proof of residential address dated within the last 3 months
- Three proposed trade names in order of preference
- Business plan — required for financial, consultancy and regulated activities
- Existing UAE visa or entry stamp copy, if you are already in the country
- No Objection Certificate from your current sponsor, if you hold a UAE residence visa
- Technical description of the research or technology activity
- Details of any equipment or laboratory requirements
SRTIP questions
Does my business have to be a technology company?
It needs a genuine research, technology or innovation component — SRTIP assesses this before approving the licence. A general trading or consultancy business will not qualify, and one of the other zones will serve you better.
What do the university partnerships involve?
SRTIP sits alongside the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah, and companies in the park can access research collaboration, student talent and shared facilities. The depth of any partnership depends on what you are building.
